Why Genre Is Such A Big Tragedy
mooneyken:
Genre. I loved it once. The word. The very concept. That delightful French-style curl on the ‘-r’ that makes it less of a word and more of a noise. But I’ve come to a recent realisation, one that makes me sad and angry and a little bit giddy, all at the same time.
Genre’s a bitch.

I Did An Interview! →
mooneyken:
Adam took some time out of his day to ask me some questions…it was only polite that I replied.
And if that doesn’t make you want to read the book (or make sense of some of what’s gone on in it) then…I give up trying.
Thanks Adam! And enjoy the read cos here’s the link again.
My First 5* Review For Godhead →
mooneyken:
And second review overall…which is good. *saves for later*
Enjoyed it a lot, much darker than I imagined. Shades of Dan Simmons’ “Ilium”, without his questionable genre-straddling spaceships-from-Saturn & Shakespearian references. Also snatches of Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods” in dealing with the whole panoply of gods & titans, but maintains its own identity.
10 Questions For The Next Big Thing
mooneyken:
The title wasn’t really my idea, but it’s a good place to start. Adam Oster tagged me in his own post continuing on a chain (Adam’s book, The Legend Of Buddy Hero is on Authonomy alongside Godhead.)The thing is, they seemed like some really good questions. So good..that it was difficult not to copy-and-paste them there and then to answer them.
So here I am, answering the questions...

More Of Godhead →
mooneyken:
A few months ago, I discovered (and started posting on) authonomy. Occasionally. I got some really good feedback on Godhead, then I returned to the drawing board and made some changes. And then I uploaded again. And so forth.
What I’ve posted today is the most of GodheadI’ve ever posted; it also brings me up to a point in the story that was where it was when I first uploaded. That...

In case you’re missing me.
There’s less men and memes, more “art”y stuff. It’s surprisingly dignified. Might be worthwhile helping me change that…

Dunno why, but since setting up the new(er) Tumblr, I keep forgetting that this one exists.
So if anybody needs me, I’ll be over here.
Just Got This Review For Godhead's Opening Chapter →
mooneyken:
Your sense of imagery is astounding. You build an epic world that could only be fit for the gods of Olympus, and you do so with such an elegance to your prose that it feels as though the Muses themselves must have been involved in their crafting.
Yet there’s an anger in this first chapter as it builds. You can sense the wrath of Zeus growing through the narrator’s voice. It’s...
